Sandra Klos is a research fellow at the Chair of Science, Technology and Gender Studies at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. In 2024, she began her postdoctoral research in the ERC project “Living with Radiation.” Klos completed her PhD at the University of Vienna, Austria, in 2024 with a dissertation on the members of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Before joining the Chair, Klos worked as a doctoral research fellow at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Within the ERC project “Living with Radiation”, Klos analyzes gender as a category of difference. Gender comes into play when doctors and non-medical specialists decide on the radiation doses appropriate for pregnant women. Klos has studied how a medical consensus was formed and implemented into policies, as well as how women protested against this consensus, which affected their employability.
