The project explores the field of science diplomacy, focusing on colonialism and the power dynamics surrounding data in scientific collaborations. Data analysis and social science research tools will be used to investigate the global networks of science diplomacy, identifying key stakeholders, institutions, and flows of knowledge and resources. The aim is to analyse if and how historical relationships between countries and the colonialism legacy are shaping power structures in contemporary scientific collaborations between Global North and Global South countries. Through social network analysis, the project will try to highlight the distribution of influence, resources, and decision-making power within the Science Diplomacy networks. It will examine in depth the role of data in shaping scientific outcomes, considering how access and control over data influence the balance of different stakeholders on the international stage.
