Conference
Download the Program22-24 July, European Cultural Centre of Delphi
The conference delves into Greece’s scientific and cultural diplomacy across the 20th century to the present, emphasizing its impact on European and international organizations. Papers will illuminate how scientific, technological, and cultural advancements, both locally and globally, shape Greece’s diplomatic presence in the EU and international fora. Questions like Greece’s early involvement in CERN, its reception of post-WWII cultural and scientific exhibitions, and its participation in the International Atomic Energy Agency will be explored. Additionally, the role of the European Research Council (ERC) in EU and Greek scientific policy will be scrutinized.
The conference aims to understand the motivations behind these collaborations, their knowledge dissemination, and their consequences on Greece’s scientific, economic, political, and cultural landscapes. It stresses the importance of intercultural exchanges and interdisciplinary approaches, aiming to bridge gaps between various academic fields and policymakers. Ultimately, it seeks to provide a platform for interdisciplinary exploration of Greece’s scientific and cultural diplomacy within the EU and international organizations.
